3 Tips On How To Reduce Sports Injuries! - Part 2

Part 1 on how to reduce Sports Injuries we went over how to properly Warm Up. Now we will go over another thing that most of us think is a waste of time: Cool Down

The goal of the Cool Down is to get our body back to pre exercising state. You shouldn't just stop exercising and rush out of the gym. Spend some time in cooling down.  Trust me, your body will thank you. 

Proper Cool Down

  1. Decrease your heart rate slowly by doing some sort of light cardio like a brisk walk. I like jumping on the treadmill and spending 5-10min just walking and bringing my heart rate down slowly. 
  2. Stretch after your exercise session and make sure you take nice deep breaths. This will increase oxygen to the muscles you just worked out and will help reduce soreness afterward. 
  3. Re-Fuel by staying well hydrated by drinking water and a natural sports drink to replenish electrolytes. Another little tip I tell my patients is to eat a piece a fruit since it is easy to digest and it's good for you!
